About Ali Ahmed
Ali Ahmed is Head of Energy Systems & Product Engineering at BijliBachao.pk. Since October 2025 he has designed and built the company's energy platforms: WattEY, the electricity platform for monitoring, control and billing, with STS, TenantBill and Wattey Sub-Billing inside it, and Solar Performance Cloud, an independent solar-performance inspection platform. He also built the BijliBachao.pk website. His work is the product and software layer that turns BijliBachao's metering, switching and solar-inverter data into numbers a business can trust, act on and bill from. Day-to-day client operations stay with the BijliBachao team, led by founder Engr. Reyyan Niaz Khan.
Areas of expertise
- Energy monitoring and control platforms
- Solar-performance inspection software
- Sub-metering and tenant billing systems
- Product strategy, solution design and delivery
- AI products: LLMs, RAG and AI agents
What he built at BijliBachao
WattEY is the umbrella electricity platform, with STS, TenantBill and Wattey Sub-Billing inside it; Solar Performance Cloud stands on its own as the independent solar-inspection platform.
The electricity platform: monitor, control and bill energy across grid, solar and generator.
- STS (Smart Transfer Switch)
Part of WattEY
Safety-critical solar/grid changeover that records which source carried the load.
- TenantBill
Part of WattEY
Photo-verified sub-metering and tenant billing for commercial buildings.
- Wattey Sub-Billing
Part of WattEY
Fair per-resident electricity billing for shared living. Entering production.
Independent, string-level, 24/7 solar-performance inspection.
From equipment to a number you can trust
The hard part of energy software in Pakistan is not drawing charts. It is deciding when a number can be trusted. Ali’s work is the layer that turns the raw output of physical equipment — meters, inverters and generators, from many different makers — into figures a business can act on and bill from.
Both platforms follow the same discipline. Telemetry arrives from mixed equipment. It is validated before anything is believed — a missing signal is labelled as missing, never quietly turned into a zero or a smooth line. It is then classified by source and by behaviour, and only after that is it turned into the number that actually matters: an inspection finding on Solar Performance Cloud, or a reconciled, source-by-source cost on WattEY. What survives is checked before it reaches the owner.
The path a reading takes
Equipment → Telemetry → Validation → Classification → Reconciliation & inspection → Business decision
That last discipline is the difference between a dashboard and a system a business can actually run on: the software is only as trustworthy as the moment it is willing to admit what it does not know.
What he focuses on
His focus is the product and software layer of BijliBachao’s energy work: making multi-vendor device data trustworthy enough to bill from, designing inspection that surfaces verified faults instead of alarm noise, and building fair, transparent sub-metering for buildings that buy power in bulk. He also applies modern AI — large language models, retrieval-augmented generation and AI agents — where it genuinely helps, always with an engineer in the loop rather than in place of one.
Across all of it, the day-to-day client relationship and field operations stay with the BijliBachao team, led by founder Engr. Reyyan Niaz Khan. Ali’s job is to make sure the software underneath is honest, defensible and worth trusting.
Writes and speaks about
- Turning messy, multi-vendor device data into numbers you can bill from
- Why fixed alarm thresholds fail on solar plants, and what works instead
- Fair sub-billing when one building buys power in bulk
- Independent solar inspection vs inverter-app monitoring
- Building energy software in-house instead of buying it
